Grease Lightning

Meet Greg (a.k.a. Cutie Newcomb). Greg loves a good night out at karaoke and his favorite tune to shout out is "Sandy." So, these birthday cupcakes were personalized with toppers that sang back to him ..."Stranded at the drive-in, branded a fool....Sandy Sandy, why-yi-yi-yi"

Spooky Baking

On a recent, quick trip home to visit my family... I was fortunate enough to spend a Sunday evening with my nieces - ages 18 and 9. We baked and decorated Halloween cupcakes for Kylie's third grade class and what a treat! Best part of the story is that I dropped three cupcakes on the floor at one point and little Kylie gets this scared look on her face and says "poor kids".. like I was really going to put those in the box. Such a fun experience! I had lunch with her at school the next day and she shared her cupcakes and was so proud of them!

Beeee Happy

These dozen mini cupcakes with strawberry butter cream frosting were decorated for a neighbor. Her mom loves bees - so I made the fondant bees to sit on top of the mini, colorful cupcakes. All edible - including the almond wings :)

Tastes and Smells of Fall

When this time of year rolls around we all get excited about the flavors of lattes that come back out at Starbucks. For me the cupcakes that I can start to make are just as exciting. This weekend I baked Joe's favorite - the Pumpkin Spice Babycake with cream cheese frosting. Slight twist this year - I used organic pumpkin and it is just as yummy (if not more so). Also tried some different toppers - my favorite is the candied pecan on top. This test run yielded enough babycakes to share with co-workers, neighbors, dessert for tomorrow's dinner party with friends, oh and several that we wolfed down in the process.

Strawberry Heaven

It has been a busy week of upcoming orders and test baking. Based on the need to try-out a new vanilla cupcake recipe and Joe's nagging sweet tooth last night - we arrived at Vanilla cupcakes with fresh strawberry buttercream icing. Joe ate three last night, so hopefully that says something. Taking a couple over to my friend, Liz's boys after while ..so we will see what the kids think.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Blast

So I have a potential customer that wants me to do eggless chocolate Dora cupcakes for her daughter's birthday. I set out to practice the eggless recipe, because it was new to me. I will admit it felt odd at first to have a bowl of batter going with no eggs in it. But, they seemed to turn out well.

I planned to take these to work for my trusty taste-testers and set some out for the neighbors who also love to test for me. So, I decided to top them with peanut butter buttercream (which I can eat by the bowl).

I have been told these are my best to date and that this chocolate recipe is better than others I have made with eggs. These guys might have to become a staple and how great they will be as babycakes.

Spread out to decorate with lots of candy
